About.

TCB Organizing was launched to share the transformative power of taking control of your surroundings.

Based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, TCB Organizing knows that outward chaos often leads to inner chaos that can chip away at our confidence, relationships, and quality of life.

As a professional organizer, I help clients bring calm to spaces that feel overwhelming — freeing up space in their homes and their minds.

FAQs.

  • It is easy to feel overwhelmed by clutter, a large task, or a dysfunctional system. Professional organizers bring fresh perspectives to situations that seem out of control. Some clients seek out organizers to help them decide what to keep and what to let go of, and some clients need a little push to get started and an extra pair of hands to make a job go faster. Whatever your specific needs, TCB Organizing is here to help.

  • No — an organizer’s role is not to persuade you to throw anything out. Our role is to work with you to make your space comfortable and functional. Often reaching that goal includes freeing yourself from some of your belongings, but it’s always your decision what to do with your things.

  • We do not want to waste your time or money, so we will work at an appropriate but rapid pace. That being said, it varies. Some projects may only take an afternoon (like a small bathroom), and others could take weeks (think garage or storage space). It also depends on how ready you are to make decisions about what to keep, store, donate, sell, or trash. It’s not our place to make those decisions for clients, so that aspect of the pace is set by you.

  • It’s entirely up to you! We can work together throughout the entire process, or, once the project goals are set and you’ve decided what to keep, donate, sell, and toss, you can leave the rest to us. You can be hands-on the whole time or you can feel free to step away.

  • We charge an hourly rate of $50 for our services and typically book in three-hour blocks of time. Each session includes one delivery of donated items to a local drop-off station.

My Story.

My mom’s struggle with hoarding began when she became an empty nester. Her home’s condition caused tension between us and affected all of her personal relationships in one way or another.

My mom was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in 2018, and at the end of her illness, when she needed hospice care, she expressed a deep desire to spend her remaining days at home.

Remaining at home would require her to ready her space to safely welcome healthcare workers and visitors — a monumental task. It was at this crossroads when, for the first time, she asked my sister and me for help. We knew how difficult it was for her to be open to making the changes that were necessary, and we accepted the responsibility humbly.

Organizing her house made her wish possible and allowed friends and family to spend quality time with her — in her home — during her final days — something she had not been able to do for 20+ years.

Doing the work that enabled my mom to live out her life at home is the most important organizing job I’ll ever do, and the experience set in motion my path to becoming a professional organizer.

While this story may be one of extremes, I believe the freedoms and opportunities one can experience by clearing out what is no longer useful are available to all of us.
